2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off for Open Door Ministries. Enter a Chili or just Taste and Vote – Prizes for best and second best Chili.
MARCH 9, 4-6:30 pm
What is Open Door Ministries?
Open Door Ministries was started in 1973 by Libby Higgins of Walnut Hills with the purpose of preventing hunger, homelessness, and loneliness. We have a Food Pantry, a Payee Program, and a Café where folks can come and get coffee and donuts, get warm, speak with friends, and charge their phones. You can get more information and donate to Open Door through their website http://opendoorcincinnati.org
What’s the Chili Cook-off all about?
The Chili Cook-off is a fun way for the community of Cincinnati, especially the neighborhood of Walnut Hills, to get together for fun, good food, connecting with new friends, and raise money for Open Door Ministries, which continues to be a vital asset to low income and homeless people in Cincinnati.
How can I get enter a Chili, or just be a taster who votes for the best Chili?
- You can go to our Chili Cook-off Event Brite Ticket site and order a ticket (Entering a Chili lets you taste and vote too).
- You can call Church of the Advent to reserve tickets for either entering a chili or just tasting at 513-961-2100. If you can’t speak to someone directly, please leave a clear message with a phone call so we can contact you right away.
- For tasting and voting, you can purchase tickets at the door on the day of the event.
If I’m entering a Chili, what do I need to bring?
- Your chili
- An extension cord to plug in your crock pot (if that’ what you’re using)
Advent and Open Door Ministries will supply the paper goods, something to drink (Coffee, Lemonade, Ice Tea), and the electricity to keep your chili nice and warm. We have a few sterno lighters if that’s how you want to present your chili.
